Tips for improving fuel economy

Here are some tips from from our top service technician for improving for fuel economy.

Check your tire pressure at least once a month, including the spare.
Underinflated tires can negatively impact vehicle performance, tread life and fuel efficiency.

Check that your air filter isn't clogged. Replacing a clogged air filter can improve can improve a vehicles fuel economy by as much as 10%

Avoid overloading your car. Extra weight reduces fuel economy.

Use the grade motor oil recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.

Make sure your vehicle is properly tuned. Regular maintenance can improve fuel economy over 4%.

Make sure your gas cap is on tight and is not damaged.

Avoid quick or "jackrabbit" starts and stops, which can REDUCE your fuel economy by as much as 33%

Observe the speed limit. Fuel economy Decreases rapidly when a vehicle reaches more than 60 miles per hour.
